Our story
The Optical Centre opened in downtown Longmont in 1973 as a family-owned practice. Over five decades the frames and the technology have changed a lot, but the idea hasn't: take the time to get to know each patient, give honest advice, and make glasses people love wearing.
We're still independent and locally owned, not part of a chain or a corporate group. The people caring for you are the people who run the practice, and decisions about your care are made right here on Main Street.
Today we combine modern diagnostic technology, including OCT imaging, digital retinal photography and visual field testing, with a boutique collection of independent eyewear. You'll see us at community events around town, and you may recognize a few faces on this website. They aren't models, but in these great frames they sure look like it. They're our patients, your friends and neighbors from right here in Longmont.
Meet our team
Dr. Jeff Berger, O.D.
Optometrist
Dr. Berger was born and raised in Colorado. He earned his undergraduate degree at Colorado State University and his Doctor of Optometry at the Northeastern State University Oklahoma College of Optometry, where he graduated magna cum laude.
In 2010 he founded his own practice in Erie, which later became part of Carbon Valley Eye Care, and he has been seeing patients at The Optical Centre since 2024. He manages glaucoma, macular degeneration, cataracts and diabetic eye disease, and co-manages LASIK and cataract surgery with local surgeons.
He is a Fellow of the Optometric Vision Development & Rehabilitation Association and has served on the local Chamber of Commerce board. Dr. Berger lives in Firestone with his wife, Leslie, and their two children. Outside the office you might find him running, flying, scuba diving, or at a billiards table.

Chelsey runs the day-to-day of the practice and makes sure every visit is smooth, from your first phone call to picking up your new glasses.

No. Stop by during office hours to browse and try on frames. Book an eye exam online if you also need a new prescription.
